What is a single buggy?
A single buggy, also referred to as a sleigh, or a sleigh-like carriage, is essentially an all-wheeled, lightweight carriage that's usually pulled by ONE horse. It is commonly used by Amish people, and is also known as a Sleigh. A single buggy is a popular choice for families since it is easy to move around for all members of the family.
Since 1998, Phil&teds has been at forefront of technological advancement. Our stroller and Double Kit(tm), bundles, provide a variety of choices for every family situation.
Go(tm) is an effortless and easy single buggy that can grow with your family; sport(tm) will future proof your pocket by acting as a brilliant single buggy right from day dot; and voyager(tm) can be adapted to take two (or even three!) - all done within the footprint of a single buggy!
Different types of single buggies
A buggy that is lightweight can be an ideal option for parents who travel often or plan to take public transportation with their child, or take a trip. They typically weigh less than 6kg in weight and fold down to a small size which means they can be easily carried in the overhead luggage compartments on flights. Buggies that are lightweight are great for travelling around town because they're easy to manoeuvre. They'll typically come with a raincover and sunshade as well - both worth the investment to keep your baby comfortable at all times!
A jogger's buggy is large with BMX wheels and is specifically designed for use in the gym. It also has adequate suspension to withstand the bounces and bumps of off-road usage. It can be difficult to control a jogger buggie since the front wheels can be able to rotate. Locking this wheel is crucial when crossing roads or mounting kerbs.
Some single buggies can be convertible that allows the seat to face either forwards or backwards (known as parent-facing). This is great for babies who are fussy and prefer to be capable of seeing their parents. Other models are only forward-facing, so they're ideal for older children who don't like being disturbed.

There are also tandem buggies which can accommodate two children who are the same age. This is useful for families with twins or babies born close together but they can be difficult to steer, especially in narrow spaces. Some tandem buggies feature a reclining mechanism in each seat, which means your child can lie flat while you push them.
The best single-buggy for you will be determined by your lifestyle, budget and family size. If you're expecting a baby think about a light buggy with a seat that can be used from birth. If you're looking to secure your finances choose an individual buggy that can adapt to a double buggy for the day when you need it. The phil&teds brand has created the first inline buggy in the world and now offers a range of kit bundles and strollers to help you reach your goals.
Buying a single buggy
A new buggy can be expensive. Most pushchair packages with newborn bassinets can cost upwards of PS700. This is a lot for parents who are on an extremely tight budget.
The reality is that, unless you live in an urban area that has public transport at your fingertips or have a massive car boot and spend your weekend in muddy parks, the majority of families purchase two buggies. A sturdy, robust buggy that can carry loads and handle rough terrain, and possibly grow with the family and a light travel buggy for trips and tight spaces, such as on public transport or in crowded streets.
We suggest buying one single buggy that is one you love, and selling it when your child grows older and you have to upgrade to a double. So you don't end up with a gadget isn't what you really need.
Double buggy: Buying one
You need to think about many things when purchasing a double buggy, from the price to the types of reclined seats available. You should also think about whether you will require an enormous shopping basket and what kind of suspension that the buggy comes with. It is also worth considering what features you would like the buggy to include such as sunshades, rain covers, and snack tray.
There is single pushchair of double buggies on the market, and the one that is right for you will depend on who will be using it, your lifestyle and budgetary restrictions. If you're expecting twins or two children or a baby, you may require an extra flexible pushchair that can adapt to your expanding family. UPPAbaby Vista V2 is a perfect example of this, providing 30 different seating options that can be used by all ages. This allows you to use it as a single buggy right from birth and then convert it into a side-by-side model for when your children get older. It can also be used with a third child when the Ride-Along Piggyback Board is added making it a great option for families with multiple children.
Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 is another great option. It's one of the slimmest side-byside double buggies available and has dimensions that are almost the same size as a single buggy. It features two seats that face the world with reclining options that can be changed to a flat position. It can be modified to accommodate two carrycots or cocoons, as well as two car seats for babies so it can take twins or children of different age groups.
It's easy to fold and can be done using just one hand thanks to the twist mechanism on the handle. It's light and compact however, it's not as small as the Cybex Gazelle S. It features a smooth footbrake as well as an excellent suspension, making it easy to push across rough surfaces. The harness straps and the seats of the car are padded, making it comfortable for your child to sit in.
